Defined STEM was recently rated 4-stars by Common Sense; the leading independent nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids thrive in a world of media and technology. We are excited and proud to be included in their prestigious lineup of educational technology resources that, according to Common Sense, "empower educators and students to harness the power of technology for learning and life".
Common Sense Education's reviews are completely unbiased and based on a "research-backed, 15-point rubric developed specifically to evaluate the learning potential of digital tools". They evaluate three key qualities essential to great digital learning experiences: engagement, pedagogy, and support, including "how engrossing the tool is to use, whether it promotes conceptual understanding and creativity, and how well it supports knowledge transfer."
While we're honored and humbled to receive an accolade like this one, we're most proud of what it means for the Defined STEM community, from teachers to students and their families. It means that we value high-quality STEM project-based learning (PBL) - which is essential for helping students succeed in college, career, and life.
Meeting our mission requires intention and integrity, therefore, we focus on three main goals: 1.) Deliver engaging content that empowers students to develop the 21st-century skills they need to succeed 2.) Inspire students with career-focused performance tasks that connect classroom content with career pathways, and 3.) Assist educators in driving student achievement.
It's this mission that makes us strive to continue to be a stellar STEM resource.
